Pouring a beautiful, clear umber color in the glass, this beer is a real looker. The aroma is full of red fruits like fresh-picked strawberries and ripe pear, with a wine-like note that reminds us of a great Pinot Noir. You might even pick up a fun, sweet hint of pink Starburst candy in there, all rounded out with a touch of honey and dry grass from its farmhouse roots.
That first sip is bright and juicy, with a refreshing acidity that really pops. We taste a lot of Santa Rosa plum and other red berries, making for a crisp and mouthwatering finish.
To create Umber, we blended two of our mixed-culture ales and aged them on second-use raspberries, olallieberries, blackberries and cherries. This process gives the beer a layered fruit flavor that’s complex and interesting without being overly sweet. It’s incredibly refreshing and easy-drinking—think of it as the perfect replacement for a summer rosé.
